And y’know, I was listening to Generations, and finally really really heard the lyrics to “Out of Harm’s Way” (it’s the dark shadow-brother of “Escape”)…and that was followed by “Self Defense”. And listening to THOSE lyrics…woah. Those two songs are perfectly paired. I’d wondered why they’d put a remake of one of Neal’s solo outings on that album, and that song in particular — now I know. Those two songs are made for each other, and after listening to OOHW, you never heard SD the same way again.
Kind of like listening to Chuck Berry’s “My Dingaling”, and following it up with “Rubber Ducky” (y’know…the song Ernie sings on Sesame Street)….
