The meme of the day

Gakked from jennytork:

Which bands/artist do you own the most albums by?

Journey, Great Big Sea, Seven Nations. Indigo Girls, REM

What was the last song you listened to?

“Daddy Won’t You Take Me Back to Mulenburg County”, by John Prine

What’s in your CD player right now?

The House Band, “Rockall”
Mary Chapin Carpenter, “Between Here & Gone”
The Monkees, “Greatest Hits”
They Might Be Giants, “Apollo 18”
Peter Gabriel, “Passion”

(multi-disc players set to shuffle make for very schizo listening. 😀 )

What’s your favorite local band/group?

Columbus has local bands worth listening to?

What was the last show you attended?

Old Blind Dogs & Solas at the Dublin Irish Festival

What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?

Journey, Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati 1986, on their ROR tour (OMG, Perry was freakin’ NUTS that night. It was one of the last rock shows before Cincy tore the Coliseum down.)

What’s the shittiest show you’ve ever been to?

Hardline (with Neal Schon), at the Newport in Columbus 1992 (?) — holy crap, I’ve NEVER seen Neal so out of place & play so badly as that show. Low attendance, low energy, and those kids in Hardline kept referring to Neal as “Mister” Neal Schon. It was like someone’s dad playing with his kid’s band.

What show are you looking forward to?

None, at the moment. All my favorite bands have passed through for the season. But I’m praying Great Big Sea comes back!

What is your favorite band shirt?

An old, old Journey Frontiers baseball jersey from 1983. Worn, faded, falling apart, & you can barely tell it’s Journey on the front.

What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?

None, because I’d probably end up either slapping them silly or walking away in disgust.

Who is one musician or group you wish would make a comeback?

Steve Perry.

Who is one band/artist you’ve never seen live but always wanted to?

U2, but I refuse to go into lifetime debt for a ticket.

Name 5 of your favorite songs of all time?

Journey, “Escape”
Indigo Girls, “Ghost”
U2, “A Sort of Homecoming”
Lunasa, “Aibreann” (talk about a FLAWLESS flute duet/trio — the only instrumental whose beauty brings me to tears)
The Pogues, “Fairytale of New York” (if only for the immortal line, “you scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot, happy Christmas my arse, let’s thank god it’s all ours”.)

Name 5 flawless albums:
Journey, “Escape”
U2, “The Joshua Tree”
REM, “Document”
The Indigo Girls, “Swamp Ophelia”
They Might Be Giants, “Apollo 18”

How many music related videos/DVDs do you own?

How many concerts/shows have you been to, total?
I’ve lost count — more than 20.

Who have you seen the most live?

Journey, both as a band & in individual solo projects.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Tossup between “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut”

What was your last musical “phase” before you wisened up?
Shaun Cassidy & teen pop

What’s your “guilty pleasure” that you hate to admit to liking?
er…Shaun Cassidy

What album have you purchased the most copies of?
Journey, Greatest Hits (three — vinyl album, CD, and the recent reissue)

Who is your favorite musician?
Steve Smith, the former drummer for Journey, who’s spent his post-Journey career doing jazz. I normally can’t stand jazz, but I WILL drop everything to go see Smith when he’s in town with any jazz band. The man makes his drums SING…
